A roadside pub a mile or so west of Carisbrooke which is dominated by food service. The original bar is at the front, although the main entrance takes you straight into the large extensions at the rear which have lovely views out over the valley and across to the Solent. The whole place is laid up for dining, including a 'party table' in an alcove. Outside is a large tabled patio, and at a lower grassy level even more tables and a children's play area. Unsurprisingly, there was a continual stream of diners coming in, mainly pre-booked but the place is certainly a bit more civilised than the average eating house. Ales on were Island Yachtsman and Tribute. The food incidentally is very good and covers a wide range from sandwiches to steaks, with a sensible innovation of smaller plate options for many dishes. Recommended for eating - less so for just drinking unless enjoying the garden.
