Totally disagree with Mr Pool below. We found this to be a very friendly locals, local, with loads of old boys having a beer after a dominoes match on a Monday night. Three handpumps on the bar with two on. The landlord told us that current trade doesn't allow him to have all three on without the quality suffering. My pint was in good nick, so I can't disagree with his policy. We ended up having 2 here as Ms CAMRA thought the red wine was good as well. We called in on the Tuesday on our way back to the hotel and one of the beers had been changed, so a reasonable throughput. The new beer was in good nick as well. We'll call in again next time we're in York as it's a decent stopping off point between the city centre and our hotel.

I thought this place might be an old traditional York boozer from outside but sadly I was mistaken. it’s a bog standard, ripped out circuit pub with nothing really to recommend about it. York Guzzler and Doom Bar available on hand pump but no one was drinking them. Walk past it.

I popped in to the Priory on a recent Saturday afternoon to find the pub reasonably busy with a local crowd. The bar on the back wall stocks a range of standard draught products and one of hand pumps was off leaving two cask ale options. I didn’t see any menus but I did note the offer of a burger and a pint for £5.95 which seemed like a good deal to me. This pub has a dartboard and a pool table that complement the many plasma screens that were showing horse racing and rugby.
From the events board: Monday, poker 9pm; Tuesday, free pool night; Wednesday, darts night; Thursday, free jukebox; Friday, disco and karaoke; Saturday, sports all day and Sunday, karaoke.
As a local boozer I found this pub to be perfectly acceptable.
