I also thought this looked liked a Wetherspoons on approach. This large historic pub is a Mitchells + Butlers outlet. The interior has a central bar facing you as you enter, with a wrap around lounge area. Five handpumps with four pumps in use, seving Leeds Pale, GK IPA and two form Timothy Taylor, Landlord and Golden Best. The pub also advertises that it is the nearest pub to any cricket ground in the country. It also attracts a lot of rugby supporters on match days. The pub hosts large screens showing Sky Sports.

Headingley Taps is a large pub in a old grand looking building,i thought it could be a Wetherspoons as i walked up to it.
Once inside there is a long oblong shaped room with the bar facing, there is a raised area to the left which is carpeted and has bench seating and normal tables and chairs, the right side has more bench seating and normal tables and chairs.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Leeds Best, this was a decent drink.
There were quite a few in fancy dress on my Saturday afternoon visit.

Old Boots left this review about Headingley Taps

An imposing building of two wings with dutch gables, possibly a former school as Mr Ashworth says, but now a popular open plan food and lager emporium although it has five handpumps including a set of three with fat handles with a knob on top and a tall swan neck to the side, a type often seen in ex-Tetley pubs in Leeds. Beers on offer were Leeds Pale, Marstons EPA, and Ridleys Old Bob, three T bars and two triple keg founts flanked them. There are raised areas at each end for dining, with a large vertical drinking area in the middle, screens are available at each end and the middle offers a number of machines. The ends were occupied by families while the middle was dominated by young men some obviously Otley Rd Runners. Beer quality was OK and the staff broke off their chatting quickly enough when someone needed serving, their hairdo's would make an interesting review on its own. Décor is of the food and drinks offers here style although there is a strange collection of arty pictures on one end wall. Outside is a big seating / drinking area.
