An impressive Wye Valley owned pub by the canal, bigger than it looks from the roadside as there’s a long side alongside the canal, it’s a popular venue for food and drink. One long room with a central servery, there are different beers at each end, four from Wye Valley one end next to a low T-Bar of dross, the other end has six pumps with a selection of smaller brewery beers including Castle Rock and Hobsons plus more keggy stuff. Simply decorated inside it’s quite neat and relaxed, possibly the best pub I visited in Stourport, although the Bird in Hand may be better.

The locals refer to this pub as part of the Stourport triangle, incorporating the Swan and the Holly Bush for a mini beer crawl. This pub certainly fulfilled our expectations, ten handpumps with nine in use on this visit. You enter the pub midway down the canal side street. The layout consisted of a the mid section bar area as you enter.
The left hand lounge area was mainly for dining, leaving the right hand side lounge area for drinking. The young barmaid was very welcoming and handed out a couple of tasters, I went for the Ludlow Stairway. The pub also has fresh cobs and pies.
