Formerly the Sun Inn. Nice old building that has had a few modernisms inserted inside but at least retains some character in the rooms within, with wood panelling, exposed brick and wood burning stoves. Not sure about the funny multicoloured high-back chairs though. Punter profile rather more upmarket than a number of the other outlets in town and a laid-back atmosphere prevailed. The ales; Doom Bar and 2 x Ramsbury (my Gold went down well enough) doled out by a friendly barmaid. Selection of daily papers. Overall, a decent stop for Marlborough.

The Sun is at the bottom end of the high street.
Inside it is probably the same as it as been for years with a few different rooms there were four handpumps on the bar i had Ringwood Forty Niner which was a decent drink the other beers were Brakspear gold, Wadworth 6X,and Spitfire not a bad pub and i would come here again.

A corner terrace pub, with the lower half being in brick and the upper half in white and wood beam, with dormer windows. The pub has a beer garden and is in the GBG 2010. The place is also a hotel and has frequent music nights and serves food, though I didn’t eat.

The interior has three rooms. The first, to the left of the entrance is in black wood panel and yellow, with some red, brick and wood floor. It is set up more for food and has arty pictures and mirrors – seemingly a little out of the traditional character of the rest of the pub. The second room is to the right of the entrance. It is in black wood panel, with heafty ceiling beams, wood floor and has a sword hanging over a red rendered brick fireplace. The pictures in this room are old photos and prints. Follow the top door through and you come to a small back room, in green and wood panel, with a fireplace and library! The service was good, the background music was very quiet and the clientele mixed.

Beer; tap stuff, with Wadsworth 6X, Spitfire and a decent Ramsbury Grand Slam on handpull.

I enjoyed the more traditional side to the pub, but the beer choice was a little disappointing for my personal taste, not being a 6X and Spitfire fan. Saying that, the Ramsbury was fine and I had just missed the Ringwood 49er – so I think it was just timing. Very much worth a visit.
