No longer a Theakstones house with a large car park to the rear.
Occasional live music and small outdoor drinking area.
On a recent visit found Bob's White Lion as the house beer with Coach House Honeypot and Leeds Midnight Bell (£2.80)
Food available check with pub for times.

A medium sized, traditional village pub, just off the A655 Wakefield - Castleford road. Internally, it’s essentially one large U-shaped floor-space, with the addition of a small room, opposite the bar. Quite a dark interior, but the extensive wooden panelling, low ceilings, exposed beams and discreet lighting all combine to give the place a relaxed cosy feel. To the left of the bar is a dartboard, housed on a stand, in front of an impressive fireplace. To the right is a semi-enclosed dining area, with a slightly more formal feel. The small side room contains a huge flat screen TV - great for watching sport, but if the pub is busy and it’s a popular game you might struggle to get in.

Since my last visit, an extension has been added which houses a sizeable function room. Outside, to the front of the pub, there is a small enclosed patio, housing several picnic benches.

Although technically a free house, it largely features Theakston’s beers, with Best Bitter, XB and Old Peculier on the pumps alongside John Smith’s Cask and Deuchars IPA. The Deuchars was fine, if perhaps a tad cold for my taste, but was served by a friendly young barman. Food is available and looks to be largely based on pub staples. Unfortunately, not tried on this occasion so I can’t comment on quality.

Overall, The Plough is a good example of a cosy, community local. It may be a little dark and heavy for some modern tastes, but fans of old fashioned, ‘proper’ pubs should find something to enjoy here.
