Lovely old building up a side road off Lowtown; shame about the interior, a riot of laminate and pallet wood with little charm. Over two levels in an L shape, the counter is up some steps at the back right, a couple of T-Bars is about it for beer. Rough wood tables on industrial angle iron bases matched with machinist’s stools and tractor seats on old bases forms the majority of the furniture, a couple of banquettes provide a less arse numbing option. Plenty of screens and a pool table (up the steps and to the left) for delectation. The rear part, in Booth’s Yard, has the jokey “Wimpyspoons” sign. It could be so good but isn’t.

Will Larter left this review about The New Worlds End

Now called the New Worlds End, though it's a very old building - there's an old Youngers sign with the date 1749, half hidden by ivy - but it's only been a pub since 1983. Oddly shaped, and on several levels, as it consists of different buildings now joined together, the pub used to have an entrance on the right with a hanging sign: "Wimpyspoons No Frills Bar". The sign is still there, but the door seems to have been blocked. The entrance is now to the left, hard by the steps to the Trinity Wesleyan Methodist church, with a new sign above it.

The bar is all the way through the building and easy enough to find if there aren't too many people in. No chance of finding any real ale though. The John Smiths Smooth was tolerable, and only £1.20 for a half - cash only. There was horse racing on the TV, and pool. An outside seating area might deserve the name of garden, but I didn't look too closely. The service was cheerful and friendly, and I spent a few happy minutes watching the horse racing with some other people who cheered the winner on even though they'd not had a bet. And why not.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Worlds End

The Worlds End is a strange pub that has two entrances on different levels and two different names,i entered the pub from the lower level which has a pub sign saying Withyspoons, once through the door there are two rooms the left room has normal tables and chairs, there is small bar in the right room both areas were out of use so i went up the steps to the main bar room.
This room is bare boarded and oblong shaped, there is another area down a few steps to the left this area leads to the upper entrance to the pub which is signed Worlds End.
There were four pumps on the bar all unclipped and the beer mats were from Oakham brewery.
I asked for a drink of real ale to be told we dont do it anymore,so it was a drink of John Smiths Smooth Crap which was extra crap while looking at an Oakham Inferno beer mat.
This is a decent enough pub just a shame they dont bother with real ales anymore.
