This is a turn of the century stone-built local pub on a quiet side-road. It has a good local trade and a pleasant, relaxed ambience, helped along by friendly staff and locals, and a fantastic open fire in the main bar on colder evenings.
Having recently been taken over by a new landlord who knows how to look after his ale, the drinks quality has only got better. The Ivy House offers Theakston's Black Bull Ale, Theakston's Mild and John Smith's Smooth, all kept well by regular turnover. A choice of lagers and Guinness are available, as well as the normal wines, alcopops and cider. The landlord is interested in increasing the range of real ales on offer. Pool and darts available, plus outside seating and covered area for smokers.
