Converted 1600's farm house as already mentioned has won many awards.
My first visit and what a gem, Dave was on form amd so were the beers as mentiones Tetleys Cask & Mild with 2 from Toad. Mild was a bargain with change out of £2 and ToadMature at £2-20 would have stain loner if I had gone on the train.
If you are in the area you must visit.
Note: Lounge on right as you enter.
Car park at side and rear.

If you were offered the chance to visit a slightly shabby looking boozer owned and run by a 'local character' known as Tetley Dave you may well do so with some trepidation, as I did. And maybe it was these low expectations that helped to make my visit so very enjoyable. Tetley Dave is a thoroughly charming, friendly and generous host without being over the top and has a fund of interesting stories and anecdotes on a range of subjects should you be interested. He is also, to judge from my own consumption, a very talented and experienced cellarman. As you might guess, Tetley Cask and Mild are regulars with two, often local, guests also on. These were Ilkley's Best and Five Towns Bodyline on our visit, both of which were excellent but a special mention has to go to the Bodyline which is a tremendous pint and was beautifully poured. Castleford doesn't strike me as a real ale mecca but despite that it really is well worth going out of your way to visit this gem.

Not much to look at from the outside ,this is an absolute gem.Owned by Tetley Dave and run together with his wife, this is a real throwback to the days when real characters ran pubs and the couple have created a wonderful ambiance in this community local. There is a public bar to the right of the entrance with two handpumps dispensing rotating local micro ales,on our visit Ilkley Best and the superb Bodyline from the Five Towns Brewery ,brewed by a local psycologist according to Dave .There is simple furnishing in this bar and some humerous newspaper cuttings subtley altered by local wits.On the otherside is a plush lounge with velour upholstery and a small stage at the rear ,no doubt used on ukulele nights. The lounge bar has handpumps for Tetley Dark Mild and Bitter. No food is served, and after ordering a lot of packet snacks, Mrs Dave said that she would have run up a round of bacon sarnies for the four of us if only she hadnt run out of bacon and Dave offered us some bread and cheese .You just dont get that attitude in most pubs these days.We explained we were going for a curry later and were quite happy with scratchings with our high quality ale, which was perfectly poured using the tight sparkler. We all signed the visitors book, noticing some well know punters have also beaten this path .Custom steadily built up as the evening progressed and at £2 per pint (£2.20 for the strong guest) you have to applaud the value.A must visit and a true step back in time to the hayday of the local.
