Following the sale the owners will start work to transform the pub, which has been open more than 30 years, into their new seven-bedroom home.
This will involve demolishing all the extensions, which comprise the pub's restaurant and kitchens, and restoring elements of the original building, which dates back to about 1550.
Another two houses will also be built on the site.

Owner, Stuart Victor Buckthorp is arrogant and rude. On 31.12.08, he tried to push us out, rudely telling my parents + husband to take kids to other side of pub or go home, claiming the kids were "bored". When my husband suggested his attitude was rude, he loudly claimed our kids weren't behaving + were causing mess. He pointed to spilled crisps on floor, nothing to do with our kids! When contradicted, he pompously pretended our kids were unruly + we were irresponsible parents! When I tried to reason with him, he was unapologetic + uncaring. Buckthorp's attitude to children + tourists is appalling. Can't imagine him running successful business if he treats customers this way.
