Holden's latest outlet isn't the easiest one to get to as there are just three buses each way between Telford & Bridgnorth (don't even ask about Sunday!). Wikipedia names Ackleton as a Village but from my Southern perspective it's a Hamlet. Whatever, it's very much a country pub with a car park and large garden at the rear. I got here shortly after midday on a quiet pre-Christmas Friday.
Inside it's a single roughly square open plan room with an Island bar and an extra bit added to the rear. It's food orientated but definitely not a gastro-pub. The landlady was very friendly and slightly alarmingly cheerful singing and humming along to the 60s soundtrack that was playing.
There are just three hand pumps which with one unused had just Bitter and Golden Glow. The Bitter (£3.00) was first class. I also ate here and the food was fine.
This is a pleasant enough place and I enjoyed my visit but it is remote and the transport links are hopeless so I doubt if I'll be back. If you live in or near Ackleton then you're onto a winner!

UPDATE: Both the interior and exterior are the same as my previous review but the pub has now been taken over by Holden's. They had three ales on: Bitter, Golden Glow and Summer Buzz (seasonal and excellent). Service was friendly and the food very good.
*******************
3/6/13: A detached Georgian styled pub and eatery with patio area. The pub consists of a three storey 'house' in undressed brick, with white painted stone lintels and sill for the sash windows and a central neo-classic dooray, with low-level brick extension. The intrerior is an irregular open plan room now the old rooms have gone. It is in a patterned wallpaper, with some exposed brick and has a couple of fireplaces. There is all kinds of traditional ephemera dotted about; brasses, tankards and plates for example. The place does food, but i can't comment on that yet, as i haven't tried it. The service was really friendly. There is a dart board. There was no TV and no background music. The clientele was mainly dining - thinning out after the main serving hours, with a couple of drinkers that were equally as welcoming. Beer; usual tap stuff with Hobsons Bitter and a decent Hobson's Up n Down on handpull. A real delight to visit - the archetypal country pub; friendly staff and good beer - i will be returning.
