Large food pub with a choice of 4 beers on. We enjoyed a Banks's Sunbeam and a game of pool! I'd happily call in again.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Claregate
Substantial Generous George roadhouse with numerous seating / dining areas in an irregular arrangement all around the triangular central servery. However, it's lost any character it might once have had when refurbished with anonymous semi-modern furniture and decor throughout. The front and side patio beer garden also features several covered benches, and there is a pool table. Banks's Sunbeam, Old Empire IPA, Wainwright and the 'seasonal' Numero Nuno (aka Banks's Amber, but good value at £2.55) available from the three banks of six handpumps.

This is a huge suburban barn of a place that presumably was once a Banks's House but is now a Marston's Generous George outlet. Inside as noted below it's a large open space with an enormous island bar. The various areas of the pub all circle around this bar. This island has so much room that they have managed to include an ice cream section in it. I noticed a pool table but missed spotting any dart boards.
There are six hand pumps as you enter and another six at the other side which are just duplicates. Five of the six were in use with Banks's Amber & Sunbeam, Marston's Wainwright & Old Empire and Ringwood Fortyniner. I went for the Sunbeam (£3.05) which was in decent condition.
I thought this place was OK but not really my sort of pub.
