Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crown

Marston's 2-4-1 pub / restaurant in an extended older building so there is some difference between the various seating / dining areas despite the uniform semi-modern furniture and the copious corporate menus, etc. on display. Three real ales on handpump: Banks's Bitter, Hobgoblin and Jennings Cocker Hoop.

Another food pub well described below. 3 beers on - Banks's bitter, Hobgoblin and a festive beer whose name I forget! I tried the festive beer and was just about drinkable. Nothing to make me try a return visit really.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Crown Tavern

A detached Marston's 2-for-1 pub and eatery, with patio area. It is an elongated cottage-style pub with bay windows either side of the front entrance and has a low-level extension, all in white render.

The interior is an open plan _-shaped room around the serving bar. The main part of the room is on two levels, and is really all dining. There is a small side area where you feel better if just drinking, but there are still menus on the table, so you are never free of it! The decor has white and wood panelled walls, with some exposed brick and a white ceiling, as well as a loud carpet. The decoration is supplied by a few ornaments, a mix of old photos and prints of paintings, as well as two nice fireplaces and some nice red ceramic tiles around the bar. There was no TV that i saw and the the background music was Christmas stuff played at a decent level. The service was friendly, and the clientele mixed and plenty of them.

Beer; usual tap stuff, with Banks's Bitter, Hobgoblin and Jennings Robin Redbreast guest) on handpull. The redbreast had started to turn, but was replaced without quibble for a decent Banks's Bitter. The Redbreast remained on sale however.

The downfall is that it is really all laid out for food - nowhere just for a pint, shame as the beer is decent. I would return here to dine and drink, rather than just have a beer. There is a lack of soul that food places have if just wanting a pint - I have eaten here before and found the food fine.
