Strange place; looking less and less interesting as you approach and enter... The large arched windows have a mix of new and older etched panes and (if you look carefully) there are some moulded features on the ceiling. Apart from that, though, the interior of the bar has been stripped out to leave a bit of mixed furniture, a pool table and plenty of space for the advertised live music. Also has a nightclub downstairs somewhere. No real ale on offer, so went for the Open Gate golden ale (£2.30) which Guinness seemed to be promoting here.

As Staaly says, the place has been reinvented and revamped since my last visit. The frontage and the shape of the main bar room have not changed but the decor has. It is in light grey, dark grey with yellow stripey wallpaper on a couple of walls, along with a wood floor. There are sofas, easy chairs and yellow stools and chairs, as well as pouffes. There were a couple of TVs, showing Magic TV until a band turned up to play live music. The service, as Staaly says, was very good and the only real ale - Holden's Golden Glow was well kept. again, i think i got in at the right time for an 'oldie', but worth it for the Glow.
