Very well presented Marston's pub, retaining two separate bars and a front patio garden. The public bar is probably formed from two original rooms, and the rear lounge has no less than four different seating / dining areas around its 'L'-shaped counter. Semi-modern furniture throughout, with decorative features including four panels illustrating the Burton Union system. Banks's Bitter and Mild (£2.50) plus Boon Doggle from the three handpumps in the back bar, with the same selection from the trio of pulls on the other counter. Overall, and with the friendly welcome certainly helping, I thought this to be the best pub in the area.

This is a detached 1950s looking Banks's estate pub with a patio area. The pub has some character, being in exposed and white painted brick. The pub has a larger 'house' element, with front and side gables and low extension at the back and a the bar room is part of a side extension in white brick, with a steeped pitched roof containing dormer windows.

The interior has a couple of room served by a central island bar. As you walk through the main door, the bar room is to the right and the lounge is straight ahead. The lounge in an L-shaped room in cream and wood panel, with some exposed fakey stone effect. There is a patterned carpet and white ceiling. There was a TV here, but it wasn't on and the walls have a few interesting old local photos. The bar room was where i settled, it is in a yellow walls and a white ceiling, with a red tile floor. It is a straight room with bay windows that incorporate blue leather perimeter seating. There is a pool table and dart board at the far end. There is a TV, which had the darts on and there was no music. The walls also had old photos and some sporting pictures on them for interest. The service was fine and there were a few locals in both rooms.

Beer; the usual tap stuff with Banks's Bitter and a decent MILD on handpull

I enjoyed my stop off here. The pub seems tidy, has a separate bar with all the pub games, keeps decent beer and seemed friendly enough to me. I would be happy to return.

John Wilmer left this review about The Cobham Arms

Went for a quiet drink with a few friends last Saturday, at about 9.15 a family with very small children decided to play machine by our table. The noise from the children was horrendus when asked manager if she could do any thing about it she replied it was her pub and she shouted at us hard luck or words to that effect. We have used this pub for many years but never again !!!!
It's a shame the beer was good and you could always get a seat.
Now I Know why there was less than 20 people in the pub when the pub less than half a mile away was packed.
