This is a pub that is perched precariously on the top of one of those enormous hills that seem to be everywhere in the Black Country. On a clear winter's day the views to the West were superb as I imagine they would also have been from the small patio / garden at the rear of the pub.
Inside it's a single room with the bar at the centre. I noticed a dart board and a jukebox.
Although I only spotted four hand pumps on the bar there were five beers posted on a blackboard, Broughs Ice-breaker, Wychwood Dog's Bollocka, Salopian Golden Thread, Oakham Bishop's Farewell and Abbeydale Dr. Morton's Funny Luck.
I went for the Broughs Ice-breaker which was in excellent nick despite being served in a Shepherd Neame glass.
I thought this was another great pub in an area that seems to be loaded with them.

Visited this community pub with a good choice of real ales yesterday, and found it another friendly local. In the 2012 Good Beer Guide and easy access by bus. Enjoyed Elland Andromeda and Shires OBJ.
The above was in August 2012 and we finished off here on Tuesday. It is a lovely friendly pub, and had a good choice of ales on, and those tried were in good condition. We enjoyed Oakham Bishop's Farewell, Kinver Maybug, Kelham Island Pale Rider and Merry Miner Methane. Deserves it's place in the 2014 Good Beer Guide.

A detached elongated cottage-style corner pub, in a creamy render, with black bay windows, rear patio area and space at the front.

The interior is an open plan Z-shaped room along and around both sides of the serving bar that faces you on entry. The decor is mainly white, with some black beams on both the walls and the ceiling with a greeny patterned carpet and green seating. It has a large brick fireplace. There are plenty of old photographs and other prints on the walls. There is a dartboard around the corner, a TV not on at my most recent visit (rugby before), a piano and a wagon wheel on the ceiling. The service was fine (even when i had to return a beer that was changed without quibble) and the clientele were mature, local and friendly.

Beer; tap stuff, with a couple of continental lagers, but the Grays MILD tap alas does not work. There are 5 or 6 real ales on the chalkboard that seem to rotate pretty quick, but there always seems to be one from the Kinver Brewery. At the last visit i had Rooster's Ginger, which was decent, JB had Nessie's Monster Mash, which was also good (previous visit)

A great place to visit, yet another Gornal winner. Slightly away from the other pubs but most definitely worth a visit.
