A car park review, this, though I doubt things inside have changed much since Soup's notes below. Anyway some tables in the car park where we could bask in the sunshine, and a marquee closer to the rear of the building, presumably where the smokers go in better times. A couple of shady tables out the front too, where you could observe the cars passing by rather than quietly shimmering in the heat.

Anyway, upon enquiry of the waitress we found beer choices were Pedigree, Directors or "Bridge's", which I take to be Burton Bridge Bridge Bitter (she didn't know) now I've looked it up. So we had a drink of that and it was a nice drink.

Judging by the menu, no gastroness here, which is good, and popular too judging by the numbers returning to their cars replete from their Sunday roasts. A pleasant pitstop if you find yourself in these parts.

A nice detached cottagey styled country pub, mainly in undressed brick, with front and rear patio areas.

The interior had a bar to the left on entry and a lounge/dining area to the right, which was all dark on my Sunday visit, as they didn’t do food that day. The bar is in red and cream, with a grey wall, the lower part of which was a brick fireplace. There is a stone flagged floor and grey ceiling. The walls are decorated with old photos and there are a few bottles and ephemera dotted about. A nice enough blend between the old and new. The service was friendly, as were the few clientele, mainly drinking on the patio at the front. The music was quiet.

Beer; tap stuff with Pedigree, Shipyard Independence Pale Ale and a decent Hobgoblin on handpull.

I liked this place. It was a pleasant stop-off. Having passed it so many times in the past, Mrs Soup did the merciful thing and halted the car for a swift visit. Worth a stop.
