Real Ale Ray left this review about Ye Olde Cross Inn
This pub is the first community-owned pub in the Tyne Valley, where 300 locals invested to buy it from the formerly owned Enterprise Inns.
This is a good sized Edwardian half timbered pub overlooking the green and the original Cross dating from the mid-19th century.
The interior had a good sized main lounge area and bar, along with a separate smaller front lounge across from the front hallway. There was a further function room on the first floor which can be accessible from a lift the locals had installed.
Five cask ales on handpump, Fyne Ales Jarl, Hadrian & Border As You Were Best Bitter and Moonage Hazedream, Northern Monk Eternal and Tiny Rebel/Old Peculier Chocolate. Their two ciders were Abranalls Ad Dry and Pulp Mango and Lime. There was also a good selection of craft beer in cans.
Bar snacks included pork pies, scotch eggs and samosas.

The Olde Cross was still closed the last time I tried to visit in spring 2019. But just over 18 months on and I was back to find it open.
The pub is situated in a bit of a dip overlooking the village green. The interior is bright and airy, with many of the tables reserved on our Saturday afternoon visit. But we found the space we needed.
I was suitably impressed by the number of real ales in this community-owned pub. Timothy Taylor Landlord is the regular ale and there is normally a beer from Firebrick. On this occasion, this was their Pagan Queen. In addition, there were 3 guest beers - Fyne Jarl, Anarchy X-Ray Eyes & BoJo's Brewhouse Tier 2. My only criticism would be the lack of a dark ale.
As I normally try to do, I'd paid for our drinks when we received them. So, it was a bit perturbing to be approached to pay (again) as we left. There appeared to have been a communication breakdown!
