This Queens Head is situated in Earsham on the Norfolk-Suffolk border, just outside the town of Bungay. It is a 17th-century busy locals brewpub and benefits from a large front concrete outdoor section overlooking the village green which includes a large marquee tent at the back to provide cover. You enter into the main bar room which has a has flagstone floor, wooden beams and a large fireplace for a roaring fire in winter. Then there is a separate room with additional seating off to the side.
The bar supports four real ale hand pumps and as the pub is home to the Waveney Brewing Co. at least one of the brewery beers is usually on the pumps.
We were staying just up the road for a week and visited a couple of times and all the beers I tried were very decent. The in house brewery Lightweight session bitter ( a 3.3% ale at £3.30 a pint) was on for our visits alongside New Bristol Brewery Starlight, Vocation Life and Death and Derby Brewing Co Derby Express ESB.
We were very lucky that our first night coincided with the Earsham fete when the pub was holding a beer festival and the side room was taken over by 12 barrels on stillage and although a few had gone by the time we got there in the evening, I was still able to have a session on the dark stuff and enjoyed Fat Cat Brewery Plum Porter, Vocation Naughty and Nice Salted Caramel Stout and 8 Sail Brewery Millwright Mild.
In conclusion we found the Queens Head to be a decent brewpub with a very good Ale house vibe.

This pub has a microbrewery, where they brew Waveney beer. The bar faces you as you enter the pub. There were four ales on the bar, three Waveney, which were East Coast Mild, Welterweight and Lightweight and the guest was Green Jack Trawlerboys. From the bar area, there was a smaller room for darts and bar billiards. The other room has all the original oak roof trusses on display and some tables and chairs. I came in here to escape a grey hairy lurcher dog that had seen me buy a pork pie. Good job really as I didn't like it, nothing wrong with it, only Norfolk recipes are a lot drier, so the dog came in very handy clearing away my pie. Noone got near my Waveney Lightweight beer, one of the best ales I've drank in years. Could have happily stayed here for hours.
