The Jolly Sailor in Tamworth used to be a popular pub for people passing through Tamworth and those who lived at Fazeley as a stop-off going to the town centre or going home after a 'session' in Tamworth. I have spent many a happy hour there, though I would not class myself as a regular. Tamworth Borough council closed Lady Bridge to traffic, and since this was (before the ring road) the main access to Tamworth from the direction of Fazeley the pub enjoyed a good passing trade. Now, the pub is closed and due for demolition. So another part of Old Tamworth will soon be gone. I have submitted pics of the pub purely for a record of what will soon be lost, never to return. When will town planners start to save our heritage?
