Modest sized pub ,the subject of a recent makeover. The interior is open plan with the bar in the middle of the building with decidedly modern decor .The mauve venetian blinds and tied back curtaining reminscent of a tart's boudoir. The furniture is a strange mix of modern tables, some traditional wooden seats ,upholstered benches and the obligatory high table. At least there was a real fire in the right hand side and some canal photos dotted about, although it's a stiff walk from the Coventry Canal.Three screens to the left, right and behind the bar are advertised to show Sky Sports ,but sensibly at lunchtime the volume for Sky News was mute.Food is a large driver here and the pricing looks keenly priced for pub brub but I only consumed peanuts (good value bowl at £1.50) while drinking so can't comment on food standards.
The two handpumps have regulars Doom Bar and a well kept Pedigree (£3.10).Usual keg suspects together with a tap for M&B mild.
Friendly enough welcome, shame about the pedestrian choice of nationally available real ale brands although clearly care is taken with the ale quality.Occasional live music from solo artists but no real reason to go out of your way to pay a visit.

A red brick Victorian roadhouse with some interesting scalloped hanging tiles at the upper level.
Most traces of anything original have been obliterated inside which is now an unharmonious open plan affair with mismatched furniture and an unfortunate purple colour scheme.
If the interior doesn't inspire a protracted stay then the beer is more promising with Bombardier, Doom Bar and a very acceptable Pedigree available. The welcome was also friendly on both of our lunchtime visits.
There are various screens around the place and premiership footie is advertised on the prominent blackboards outside.
Worth popping in for a pint of Ped if passing.

A nice traditional detached brick build, with beer garden

The interior is open plan, with a small dining area (I didn't eat, but menu seemed fine)and a bar/lounge. The decor is white and wood panel, with a nice fireplace and mainly canal pictures and memorabilia on the walls and dotted around the place. The service was friendly and the clientele mixed, local and seemingly friendly enough - quite traditional inside, except for the charty music, which thankfully was played at a subdued level.

Beer; tap stuff, but no MILD, with GK IPA and a decent drop of Pedigree on handpull.

The pub itself is great, as are the people. The beer i had was fine, it's just that there was no MILD and the real ale choice is limited to the ubiquitus Peddy and the awful GK IPA.
