This pubs sits on a prominent corner location close to the railway station. There is also a bus stop immediately opposite.
Inside, the main bar provided respite from the heat outside. There is a main bar at the front, with a smaller room at the rear and outdoor seating to the front and rear too. Just off the main bar was a door labeled "Curiosity Shop". Peering through the glass, it appeared to be a storeroom full of junk! Next to the door was a good selection of board games.
3 real ales were on - Yorkshire Heart Hearty, Great Newsome Skipper & Horncastle Damned Deceiver. There was no real cider, but plenty of varieties of Lilley's ciders in bottles.
Another pub with a friendly welcome and deserves its entry in the Good Beer Guide.

The White Swan is an attractive building that had a refurb in 2013 and is quite handy for the train station and also the local buses.The pub had 2 cask beers and one cask cider on my visit and thought the makeover was ok although the furniture was a quite uniform,and seemed a lack of atmosphere although could be completely different at night time.
