A large Georgian pub with a variety of functions. Entry is through the spacious carpark, but queues at the traffic lights on the junction adjacent mean you have to be patient getting in and out, especially when some moron stops on the 'Keep Clear' area at the entrance. The pub, which has 16th Century roots, is supposedly haunted, though by whom is unclear. The downstairs rooms have been made into a single, open-plan bar, which thankfully hasn't destroyed its local charm. There is a dartboard in a small snug to one side, and there are several gaming machines. The music on the jukebox was at a sensible volume, and it was a mixed bag of mainly tolerable sound. Food is freshly prepared from locally sourced ingredients and represents good value for money. Two ales on, Yeovil Stargazer and Ringwood Best, inexpertly poured by the inexperienced barmaid, but in good condition and very enjoyable. This is a really good local and worth stopping in for a meal or a few beers.

Not long ago was really nice and very popular - how times change! Has been allowed to steadily become a place to avoid. Closed down, then open, then closed, open again, etc. etc.
