An attractive village pub opposite the post offffice and village shop, forming an essential part of the village’s hub. The pub dates from the mid 18th Century and is currently a freehouse. There’s a gravelled terraced garden and a gravel car park at the back and a gravel terrace with benches and chairs at the front. Inside, the two bars remain distinct, which adds to the traditional feel, along with the low beams and tiled floor. There is a separate, more formal dining room. There are brick fireplaces, basic wooden tables and a few local nik-naks adorning the walls. The barman was initially friendly, but he started to look a bit stressed as more and more grockles came in. One hipster couple in particular crashed in with a large baby in its car seat, an in-bred fashionable spaniel that kept yelping and an in-bred fashionable toddler that also kept yelping. The latter was urged by its in-bred fashionable Jimmy Choo-shod (you can’t polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter) mother to pester one of my dogs, mistaking growling (caused by the unwanted attentions of aforementioned spaniel) for an invitation to play. One can see why the barman was irritated. Only one ale on, Otter, which was in good condition; the other pumps on the bar were dry. It would be nice to come back here out of season and enjoy the ambience and beer, and try the food which looked like good value, without being harangued by half-witted humanoids

A mixed review that just about sums this pub up. Should be a perfect looking village local, but disappoints. Only one beer on between Christmas and new Year which was Otter best and was not in good order, therefore low score held up by the pleasant ambience
