Standard pub just off the main drag with Wainwrights and Hobgoblin Gold. The beer was fine as was the service. Happy to call in again.

The New Inn is a basic drinkers pub that is situated on a side street just off the main shopping street.
Once inside there is a long narrow room which runs to the rear, the front area is bare boarded and the rear area carpeted, there is bench seating and small stools, the bar is on the mid left side, the rear area is up one step.
There is a darts board to the front left and the TVs were showing horse racing.
There was one real ale on the bar which was Hobgoblin Gold, this was a decent drink.
Background music was playing.
The pub was packed on our Saturday afternoon visit.
Not a pub for beer buffs, but we were happy enough having a drink in this pub.

A terraced Banks’s pub in a cream render and with black paint work, accessed via the alley, where there is also a small patio area.

The interior has one, long and thin open plan room running past the smallish serving bar that faces you on entry. The decor is plain cream and cream patterned wallpaper, with wood panel and with green leather seats, with many ripped at the far end of the pub. There is little in the way of pictures or ephemera, leaving the pub looking a little spartan. There is a dart board and music was supplied though the jukebox, which was a feature in itself and not only holds a great collection of sounds, but has an aesthetic charm. There is also a TV, which had some daytime programme on. The service was fine and there was no other clientele in.

Beer; tap stuff with Banks’s MILD (though not on at the time) and a decent enough Banks’s Bitter on handpull.

A little bit of a lack of choice, with no MILD and no guest being on, despite the beer mat collection behind the bar showing that they have had them. All in all, it is a little basic and does not have enough to make me want to come back.
