Conveniently located at Worksop railway station, this pub has doors from the platform that seem to act as an emergency exit. We didn't try too hard to access the pub through the doors, but did see somebody else enter through them. The main entrance is from the station car park at the other side.

The Mallard is a small, cosy, single-room pub. In fact, for the number of customers it's tiny, possibly even verging on cramped. We were greeted by the friendly barman/landlord who invited us to take a seat, as he ensured us that the locals were friendly! With all tables occupied, I think we would have been scattered around the room on individual stools had we taken up his offer. So, we instead became bar blockers!

4 real ales were on - Vale of Glamorgan Best, Nethergate Old Growler, Oakham Inferno & Allsop's India Pale Ale. There were also a couple of boxes of Weston's ciders on the bar. One was Old Rosie. The other was a Rhubarb one. This was one of only 2 pubs in Worksop that we found serving real cider. Although I instead opted for the Old Growler, which was in good form.

The landlord helpfully gave us directions to our next pub, which was outside of town in the next village along. This proved to be particularly invaluable as the local buses were on diversion due to a hole in the road!

A cosy, but very friendly place with a little character to boot. It ended up being my favourite pub of the day in Worksop.

Nice small bar in the railway station with a couple of tables out in the car park.

Beer in fine form.

On the Sheffield bound platform of Worksop station and named after the locomotive rather than the duck, it is much as Alan W describes, that is compact and bijou. Decorated with the railway pictures you would expect given its location. Four beers on handpump, Double Top and Blue Bee on this occasion, and there were monthly guest bottles this month from Hardknott. A good place to start or finish any crawl of Worksop as atested to by the good collection of GBG stickers.
