The Bowman Is a large Flaming Grill Pub next to the main road going into Hucknall from Bulwell. It has undergone a large transformation and had a complete refit inside with a new paintjob outside. The pub would have original been separate rooms but like so many others these have been knocked through to form a precession of different open dip areas. The Bar is L shaped as you enter with the bar facing you as you enter and bending round to serve the other room on the left. The right hand side of the pub is designed for diners and families while the left hand side is more open plan and has a pool table and is designed for drinkers although food can also be consumed here. The decor is super generic as you might expect with absolutely no character as is the case with most of these types of venues. The pub offers 2 hand pulls that on my visit had Lincoln greens Tuck porter reversed and GK IPA. I opted for a Guinness at £3.60 which was fine. The pub was pretty quiet Friday afternoon in December with just a few lads playing Pool. Certainty not a drinker’s pub but somewhere for a cheap bargain food and a cold beer. Not insulting, it was clean and warm but totally bland and lifeless with terrible generic beer selection. I will not return here in a hurry but for anyone staying at the Premier Inn that is practically adjoined to this place it serves it purpose.

Came here for a birthday celebration and 8 of us had a variety of dishes from burgers to chicken breast and salad. Great choice of menu with something to suit everyone, variety of portion size options including a children's menu, and for the price surprisingly good quality food, excellent service and most of all excellent value for money. Although I try, I wasn't able to fault it. I dare you to try the burger challenge for £9.99 as no-one I know has been able to do this or get there photo on the wall of flame. Believe me they have tried but there is shamefully too much food.

The Bowman used to be called the Blue boar in the 80s it is quite a big pub on the edge of Hucknall and not from Bulwell in Nottingham.
