The Newcastle Arms Is located further up Nuthall road after the main junction and is a slight more aesthetically pleasing on the outside than its counterparts down the road. Sadly this is where the compliments end. Much like the Whitmore this is a very basic locals local no nonsense no thrills boozer. It has A very traditional style and layout with the bar taking centre stage and curving round to the left hand side. The pub is mostly hard wood but with seating areas top the right withy some carpet. There is a pool table in the middle of the room with seating around it that the majority of the (the relatively small number) of punters were standing around like a centrepiece. AT the far right end of the bar there was three hand pulls that looked to be fairly new (Judging by the unchipped wood bottoms and sparkly swan necks) But all were unclipped and then I was profoundly told “no, we don’t sell that” but we do have john smiths. Id rather castrate myself than willingly order that when there is even a half better option so I had Theakston’s mild instead for £2.60 but not before I was told I was an old man and that my drink of choice was horrible. This made my laugh a little when the only options are lager or johns. The beer was cod but fine and I don’t mind keg mild nearly as much as cram flow bitters so that was a slight positive. The pub was brighter than the Whitemoore and didn’t have as much of a dreary atmosphere and the people were slightly more alive. Overall yet another poor pub in this neck of the woods and really only visited by local residents. Unless there is a redub/takeover/introduction of anything half decent there is really no reason to bother in here. Unless things change I probably won’t again.

The Newcastle Arms used to be an Home Ales tied house.
This pub is quite large and is on a very busy road it used to have two rooms but these have been knocked into one large room which i think has spoilt it,there was one handpump and this had Theakstons Best on i think i was the first person to have a drink of this as it was quite warm even when this drink is served at its best ime not that struck on it.
The pub was fairly busy mid afternoon and everybody else was drinking lager or cider. There are a few picnic tables at the front if you like traffic fumes i dont think i would go here again.
