Real Ale Ray left this review about Charmbury Arms
We got off the train at Oldfield station, so we could explore this part of Bath and then continue into the centre. This pub was not on our itinerary, as our list for the day was crammed enough.
The exterior of the pub did look very well kept and invited a promising visit. Once through the doors, we got a warm welcome from the landlady and a couple of locals sitting over by the window. The interior was traditional, carpeted throughout, with blue painted timberwork throughout. A small bar is situated in the middle of pub and had a choice of three ales and two ciders. We choose the Butcombe bitter and the landlady drained some of the line, before filling our glasses, which scored more points. Another local called in whilst we were there, so the conversation between all of us was excellent and we found it hard to leave.
This is a very good example of a friendly and traditional backstreet pub that should be well supported and nurtured.
