OK it's my local so maybe I'm biased. But as to WHY it's my local - well that's the point.
This place has everything without having to take a taxi into town (at least £20 for the 10 mile trip). Thanks to the licencing law changes, there's no need for clubs as opening hours are somewhat flexible.
With well kept beers and an annual Spring bank holiday beer festival (over 36 real ales on order for this year) live music at least once a week and seriously good, well priced food (try the "dog's dinner" - you won't forget it in a hurry) why would I go any where else?
The Dukes claims to be "the pub at the heart of the village with the village at heart." It's not just marketing, they actually mean it and it shows.
