Now with a total makeover, the front area has modern bench seating and chunky tables, plus some tall tables and stools, there is an additional patially separated seating area opposite the bar counter with more dining oriented furnishings. At the rear is a conservatory housing a dining room, the pub is more dining pub than village local in common with the nearby Square & Compass which is run by the same people. Six pulls with beers from Leeds, Black Sheep, York, Banks's (Tetleys), Ossett and Moorhouses, there's also a T-bar of standard kegs and a few interesting beers in the fridge. Decor is modern without the cliched grey finish being natural wood and stone with white walls and khaki woodwork. Sadly there is canned music and on Sunday it appeared overstaffed with liveried staff in grey shirts & aprons. Not much for casual drinkers on first sight but there's a good range of well kept beers and the front area is fairly comfortable for drinking.

Largeish stonebuilt pub in the middle of the village. An L shaped bar with a smaller room divided off to one side. All the rooms are decorated in half timber brewers tudor. There are bench seats with mounds of cushions, the usual screens and machines and it is a little food oriented compared to the Railway Inn. Average Tetley's Cask with Black Sheep Bitter and John Smith's Cask also available on the five handpumps, standard kegs from John Smiths, Becks, Fosters, Carling, Kronenburg, with the usual Guinness and Strongbow. The staff are efficient and the cartoons in the Gents are not terribly funny.
