This place is as close as you can to being classified as a pub rather than as a restaurant. As you can see from their website, the only mention of real ales is as an accompaniment to your meal. It is not large inside, with one small table in the corner of the bar that is not normally laid for eating. When we asked if the other tables were for dining only we were unenthusiastically told we could sit there if we wanted, and they removed some of the cutlery for us. However, we were not popular. The food does look good, if pricey, but I review these places as pubs. My advice is visit The Rising Sun next door which is next to the river and has the balance right.
