Having been disappointed with the service at the Crown, we tried the only other pub in the village. On entering, we were met with a wall of cold but desperate for food, we persevered and went to the bar. The land lady was very apologetic about the cold, explaining that there was a problem with the gas supply and they not only had no heating but also no hot water and no way of cooking. we must have looked like needy causes because she then offered us several take away menus and declared that we could order in and she would provide utensils. The order was placed, beer and wine was purchased and we had a great night. The pub slowly filled up and later a singer appeared and entertained us for a couple of hours. Not a bad pub really, just needed some help with services, including a plumber to sort the cold water leak in the toilets.
