Nice pub just outside the town centre alongside the canal. Mad Goose, London Pride and Tribute on when I called. I went for the Mad Goose which was fine. I would happily call again.

The General Eliot is a fair bit smarter than on my previous visit many years ago although the refurb has left an undistinguished interior with just a boarded area at the back of the central bar of note. I'd guess that this is where their regular live bands play.
Outside though is a very pleasant terrace overlooking the Grand Union and the boatyard on the other side. The pub seems popular with boaters and welcomes them.
Food was going well on our lunchtime visit with the menu listing standard pub grub at sensible prices with omelettes being something of a feature.
Beers on were London Pride, Wells Bombardier Burning Gold and Adnams Ghost Ship. Uninspiring but for the latter which was in top condition and flew down.
For me this is the best spot in Uxbridge for a decent pint.

Rex hits the key points,I think the canalside garden is quite charming and there is also a covered area if the weather isnt great. The gate from the towpath gives easy access for boaters and there are often bohemian boat folk knocking about. The open plan interior has an interesting collage of pictures of old Uxbridge, and sadly highlights the wanton destruction of parts of the town by 60's planners.
The ale choice was also identical to Rex's visit,my Adnams Ghost Ship was on fine form and sailed through the three pint test. The food menu looked bog standard pub grub but live music is offered every Friday and Saturday night and there is a no frills community feel to the boozer ,which has been nicely refurbed since my last visit .Best canalside pub in the area, and as it turned out the best real ale found in Uxbridge on a crawl of the town centre boozers.Worth a revisit, and great if you like to see boating action as the boatyard over the otherside is well renown and always busy with craftsmen doing their thing.
