A small street corner boozer with front windows half glazed, half obscured glass and a front door propped open to allow traffic fumes to enter the modest, square interior. There is large fitted bench seating to the left below a vast flatscreen with BBC24 News on mute but with two skeletons propped up in the corner making the whole area somewhere that you wouldn't want to be seated at.Maybe the bar staff are trying to be ironic but they have failed. There rest of the interior has some high tables and circular small tables with stools but its a bit chaotic and not well though out.
The small bar was offereing a house beer "coming soon" and TT Landlord served southern style without a sparkler and hence very dull,NBSS 2.The bar isnt big enough to support bar stools but thankfully there was only one blocker.
There seems to be a focus on cocktails ,the pub grub is cheap for the area with £10 mains and some small plates but no one was eating.
The muzak was decent but this was the highlight, with some thought ,better layout and the loss of both the skeletons and the vast flatscreen you maybe left with a decent pub if the ale options improved but as it is,the best policy is to keep walking.

Another first on our N16 crawl to a former Charrington’s pub and dating back to the 18th century, making it one of the oldest in the borough.
As mentioned by all, it’s very gloomy indeed in here, despite the punishing early evening sunshine – you really have to get used to the dark on entering. If it weren’t for the fairy lights underneath the bar’s lip, you’d never find it. This is a more mixed pub than most in the immediate vicinity, with a less hipster crowd and certainly an older customer base, but that could just be a trick of the light, most of which came from the TV showing the footie with the sound down. As far as I could make out, the interior is largely traditional with a little bare brick and a modern bar back. There are velvet drape curtains and traditional closely packed furniture with some pews atop a bare floor. There are a few knick-knacks about the place and music played at a slightly uncomfortable level.
Ales: one unused pump, Sharp’s Doom Bar and Darkstar’s Hophead at an increasingly reasonable £1.80 a half, served by a very friendly barmaid.
There was generally a good atmosphere in here, marred by the youths swearing at the referee so I’d come here again, but only when there wasn’t a game showing.

It still has quite a traditional feel about it here, as mentioned before it is rather dark inside, wooden floored and simply decorated with White walls and Red ceiling, there were a few framed front covers from old Film Weekly magazine's dotted around the walls.Rather bizarrely there was a small reception counter(unused) by the front door as if you had to wait to be seated, totally at odds with the rest of the pub. Live football was on TV.Only two of the three handpumps were in operation with a choice of Doombar and Darkstar Hophead which was ok and perfectly drinkable without being stunning. I did quite like this pub and would call in again if passing.
