Steve C left this review about Nightingale
The Nightingale is a large corner boozer in the backstreets of Hornsey so it probably doesn’t get much passing trade meaning that the locals can enjoy their pub in relative peace. This is the only explanation I can think of as to why I received a less than enthusiastic welcome from the woman behind the bar. There is a range of standard draught products available and unfortunately the Guinness wasn’t much cop, but there were only two other punters in attendance and they were drinking lager so the Guinness had probably been sitting in the line for a while.
The bar area is enormous for the size of the building and there is a public bar with pool table on the left and a larger lounge bar on the right that houses a projector screen which was showing muted cricket highlights via Sky Sports during my visit. Some random old hits were playing on the jukebox as it was on automatic select due to no money being put in.
I do like a good old fashioned boozer, but I think that I will leave this one to the residents of Nightingale Lane and its immediate environs.
