I came here once with a group of about six just before Fireworks' Night to music in Finsbury Park in 1998. I do recall that it was a good pub at the time when it may have been called the Earl of Essex. N4 isn't exactly a hotbed of quality pubs, so this is probably your best bet for a civilised pint in the area, though alas, the fireworks here are long gone.

The Worlds End is a corner pub that is not that far from Finsbury Park station.
Once inside there is a large opened out room with the bar facing, there is a table football close to the front entrance, the seating is long tables to the front and normal tables and chairs elswhere.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Portobello VPA which went down well, the other beers noted were Hop Stuff Justified,Hogs Back Golden ? and GK IPA.
There was decent background music playing.
I thought this was a decent pub to end my crawl in.

Yet another train cancellation led to a quick diversion from the station to get a pint, and I'm glad I made the short walk. The pub has two sections with the front bar running around the glass fronted part of this street corner building. It's been opened out ,has comfortable wooden chairs and tables with a modest flatscreen for Sky Sports. There is a table football by the front door. There is a very attractive carved wood and etched glass entrance door to the back bar which is well worth exploring. Here there is a stage for live music and a very ornate high ceiling, and pleasing fireplace with a pub mirror above. The audience seating is very basic canteen tables and chairs but further back below another flatscreen are some high backed bench seats. The performance area has a lot of music posters and other ephemera which give more interest. Both bars are served from an island servery with the usual keg suspects and two real ales on my trip in GK IPA and Sambrooks Wandle, decent £4.
A pub quiz and music at weekends mark this out as a community type pub,and although the ale choice is mundane, this is the best pub I've found around Finsbury Park to while away a bit of time.
