Update from the week before Christmas. There were a couple of ales on in the back bar section in the form of Doombar and Purity UBU. Sadly neither were particularly good and we moved on to more reliable craft options. This is another Shoreditch pub that post Covid seems to put the focus is on the craft offerings rather than ales. This doesn’t seem a problem for the target demographic, who were packing the place out on this particular evening. For me this is still one of the best pubs in Shoreditch, especially with the large outside courtyard area at the rear of the pub.

Just a quick popping-my-head-round-the-door visit from me today, and I can confirm there is still no real ale on. It was busy - lunchtime on St Patrick's Day - with plenty of people eating, so I didn't stop for a drink of whatever else was on.

A very good PSM review nails the detail,my visit was on a Friday after work and the pub was rammed,and the music was earsplitting.The exposed brickwork and lack of lighting gave the interior a gothic feel,and the large rear garden terrace was even more packed than the pub interior.
There is a chalk board at the front of the pub listing the 6 real ales,but the longer list of keg beers and ciders was much less distinct in the gloom and difficult to read,although I noticed several Siren Craft and Meantime taps.The handpumps themselves are in two banks of 3 at either extremety
of the bar,so fetching your selection may take the overworked barstaff a while.On my trip the selection was Hammerton N1,Five points Pale,Sambrooks Scrumdown,Truman Swift,Redemption Big Chief and a very decent London Fields Love not War.The GBG listing seemed deserved.
Very popular with the young and hip,it may be better to arrive at a less hectic time if you want to savour the interior and save yourself from ear ache.However,I enjoyed my brief stay on a crawl around this part of town.
UPDATE
Very disappointed to find both sets of three handpumps unclipped on a Friday 9pm visit.Maybe real ale has bitten the dust here in favour of keg,it was still lively and noisy with a young,hip crowd.We sloped off to Goose Island for decent pints of real ale.
