This out of town boozer is a five-minute walk from Princes Risborough station on the Chiltern Line and is in the midst of a terrace of Victorian-era housing. Recently taken on by the local, family-run Oak Taverns, who own the famed Cross Keys in nearby Thame, this is a smallish pub, a rough L-shape internally. The slightly staggered bar faces, with seating in bay windows either side of the entrance, some vertical seating in an area extending beyond the bar to the left and an entrance to a beer garden to the right which has covered seating immediately opposite. Bare boards, painted walls, a grey-painted bar front, exposed brick fireplace (with modern burner) and to the right of the bar an old Ordnance Survey map has been painted. Six handpumps with four real ales - XT 4, Chiltern Beechwood Bitter, Braksprar Oxford Gold and something I'd never heard of before again called Yorkshire Heart SilverHeart IPA which was £3.80 a pint and very good. The other two pumps were occupied by real ciders in the form of Henry Weston's Family Reserve and Orchard Feathers. A range of over 30 gins and some crafty cans in the fridge means they're ticking the "du jour" boxes, but all-in-all a good effort and let's hope this brings some stability to an establishment which has had a checkered history of late.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bird In Hand

Looks and feels like a village local, now seeming slightly out of place as the small town of Princes Risborough has expanded towards its railway station over the decades. Modest 'L'-shaped bar, with tidy (if fairly basic) furniture and decor. Compact patio beer garden to one side. Thai food advertised. A Greene King house with three of four handpumps in operation, offering IPA, Olde Trip and Betty Stogs (£3.60) available.
