This is my third visit since WB took it over.Slightly busier than before but my warm West Berks-have a great day 4.2 was good even though it should have been cooler.Outside seating to the rear.

This is no longer a Greene King pub, but West Berkshire Brewery's foray into the the London pub scene. As you would expect there are a couple of West Berkshire's beers available - Good Old Boy and Mr Swift's. But they also had on Elusive Brewing Sphere of Destiny; Signature Roadie; and Tiny Rebel Gwtch (£2.50 a half). They do food, but I didn't bother to go and ask the staff for a menu.

This is another "gentrifiesd" pub. There's nothing of heritage interest inside that I spotted. The area at the front has a replacement bare-boarded floor, with a chequerboard splash area around the bar counter. There's fixed bench seating around the sides, a couple of sofas in their traditional place next to the fireplace, plus some normal tables and chairs including a couple suitable for larger parties of six or more. All the tables had on them little sprigs of daffodils. Right at the back down a couple of steps is another seating area, which is carpeted and with more normal tables and chairs. Out at the back is a small seating area backing on to a park.

It's expensive - well £2.50 a half is expensive in my book - but the ale selection was very good with none of the usual suspects on show, and it was actually quite comfortable in there. I've been in very many worse pubs, and I would be happy to visit this one again. Maybe West Berkshire Brewery will have a punt on another pub in London, which on this one's showing I reckon would be a good thing.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Old Suffolk Punch

The refurbished 'Old Suffolk Punch' replaced the previous 'O.S.P.' incarnation in 2008, but the large single-room layout - with a rather annoying single step up to the bar - is still a bit soul-less with its anonymous modern furniture and a high ceiling. It also has a cramped patio area at the back overlooking the Frank Banfield Park. On the plus side, it is one of those Green King pubs now offering a wider selection of real ales, with TT Landlord, Truman's Runner (£3.75) and Redemption Hopspur available as guests on my latest visit in addition to IPA and the 'house' FFC (Fulham Football Club) ale.
