Dating from 1970 and taking its name for being in the shadow of the Post Office Tower, or BT Tower for the under-50s. This was originally the site of the Fitzroy Arms, the date of renaming in 1826 when it was previously known as the Bastard Arms on account of the landlord being a Bastard; John Bastard to be precise.
I came here once before for an office darts match around 1990 and recall it being quite a tidy affair, unlike the shenanigans undertaken by some of my fellow office workers.
I doubt I would have returned.

From the outside this looks like a classic flat roof estate pub and the Greene King coloured signage may put you off ,but none of their appalling beers were on offer inside ,so maybe this is now free of tie.
It's a single room open plan layout with a raised front section under the slatted window blinds .A mix of high tables,Chesterfield sofas and regular tables are dotted about as are three flatscreens but all were turned off on my lunchtime visit thankfully.There is an unused dartsboard,and a short menu featuring a lot of veggie and vegan options at pub grub prices.
The 4 handpumps were offering TT Landlord,Doom Bar and Exeter Ferryman (NBSS 2.5 ,a dull brew)
With a pedestrial ale selection and not much internal character this pub wouldn't make it on my list for a revisit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Tower Tavern
Odd-looking pub with a pale tiled façade, housed in a distinctly unattractive low-rise building in the shadow of the BT Tower. Just one split-level room, which looks bigger than it actually is due to the sparse furniture and basic 60s decor. Several TVs, and you get the impression that it also used for live music. It is a Greene King house, but the beer selection has improved since my last visit some five years ago, with a mixture of beers from the brewery's range plus a decent pint of Bath Ales Gem as a guest from an increased total of four handpumps.
