A very traditional pub in theatreland with a fair amount of wood panelling to the reasonably comfortable interior. Numerous theatrical photos adorn the walls and a couple of TVs thankfully had the sound off. Sadly the beer was not up to much, with only IPA, Abbot and London's Glory on draught.

A pub of some sorts has existed here since at least early Victorian times but the present building with its faience tiling looks as though it’s early Edwardian.
As mentioned, it has quite a traditional interior with a carpet and swag curtains. There’s some eclectic knick-knacks and the walls to the rear snug are adorned with photos of famous actors, some autographed. Sport was being shown on the TV with the sound off; muted music played. However, the music was drowned out by the somewhat lubricated young cacophonous crowd which made for a rather unsettling environment – there was even a bouncer in the pub, which is an absolute no-no for this reviewer, especially when combined with flashing games machines; is this pub always rammed?
Ales: Greene King’s Abbot, IPA and Scrum Down (the Rugby’s on) at a passable £2.30 a half and reasonable by GK standards.
There’s a charming pub here struggling to get out: attractive from the exterior and a traditional interior but the exclusive GK beer choice, rowdy crowd, games machine, sport TV and – especially – the indoor bouncer mean that I’ve no desire to return as if it’s like this mid-week, what’s it like on a Friday or Saturday?

A charming interior ,traditional and with lots of features but sadly tied to Greene King .It's quite small with impressive drapes around the front windows, seating around an unused fireplace with small alcoves opposite the modest bar with a good bar back. There is lots of wood panelling everywhere. The best part is at the rear, with a large curved leather banquettes with three brittania tables,an interesting sky light with mosaic glass and lots of pictures of actors, including a large one of Buster Keaton.
Sadly the food options come from a corporate GK pub grub menu ,but thankfully on my early evening trip most folk were just drinking and food didn't dominate. The muzak was a touch too loud and not needed, but at least the flatscreen was turned off.
At the bar three handpumps offering GK London Glory and Westerham 1760 Special Pale Ale (clear but a malty brew not to my taste) while the third handpump was clipped with Hackney Best Bitter but with a sign that it was still conditioning, shame.
Live jazz on Sunday evenings shows some community feel, and higher marks would have been awarded if the ale was more exciting.Worth a look.
