An odd boozer which seems to mix many styles. Unsuccessfully.
Outside it's a solid building in brick and black and white timber.
Inside there has clearly been a relatively recent refurbishment and it now features acres of pale pine, sofas and various modern furniture.
It's focus does seem to be on food but we didn't eat and the only menus available were for Christmas with the same offer priced higher for more popular dates.
Beers on were Caledonian Trojan Horse, GK Governor, Hobgoblin and Brunswick Black Sabbath. The latter was a very good and well kept 6% stout which made the visit worthwhile.
Worth dropping in to see what they have on.

Situated up a short lane leading from The River Soar, the substantial beer garden and childrens play area will afford river views, but not from inside the pub.The entrance is off an external terrace which is undercover and there is a sign showing that the pub was originally tied to Derby brewer Strettons. The outside is the best bit,the interior is really quite souless with a lot of cheap looking light pine, not much furniture but quite a few annoying square pooves and a large fireplace with just a small coal affect gas woodburner with a flatscreen above, thankfully off on our lunchtime visit.Around the bar there is a seperate dining room which looked a bit smarter, and food is a major draw .
At least there were four handpumps serving Caledonian Trojan Horse,Brunswick Black Sabbath,Hobgoblin and GK Governor .Condition of what was sampled was fine, shame there wasn't a better thought out selection than four fairly punchy ales.
The location may mean that in good weather, there isnt a great incentive to go the extra mile but I found the visit dull and cant see any great reason to return despite a friendly welcome, occasional live music and a beer festival. It felt like drinking in a sports pavilion.
