Called in again last night to watch the football. The room to the left is now used as a restaurant during food service times. There are now 3 handpumps on the bar and last night they were Hobgoblin, Jennings Cumberland & Jennings Cocker Hoop, so not a very adventurous selection. The Cocker Hoop was a decent pint though. The mainly young clientele are still a bit rough and ready but it's improved a little since my last visit.

Known locally as “The Tobes” this pub has been here for as long as I can remember as I used to go to school just around the corner. Up until relatively recently it was a Burtonwood pub and only sold keg beers. Under new ownership it now sells the real stuff. There’s a large lounge to the left as you enter and a much smaller one just to the right. There's another large room to the right where there’s a pool table and a quiz machine. This room is used to show football whenever there’s a big match on. The lounges are nicely decorated and look much better then they have in the past. It can be a bit rough and ready as some of the locals can get a bit raucous at times. There are now two handpumps on the bar but only one was being used selling Brakspears Oxford Gold, it was pretty average and I certainly wouldn’t have wanted another one. I was also given a Mexican two peso coin in my change rather than a £2 piece as they look very similar, it could have been an “accident”. It’s still not great but it’s better than it has been in the recent past.
