Thwaite's pub on the main road from Rochdale towards Bury. The interior is split over a couple of levels. Entering from the street, you arrive into the higher area. Handpumps are in the lower area, but the bar spreads over both levels.
Wainwright (now brewed by Marston's) is still the regular beer here. Guests were both from Thwaite's - IPA & Nightingale. We took our drinks to the outside terrace to the rear of the pub to enjoy the sunshine whilst it lasted. A few others had gathered here and most seemed to be here for lunch. A member of staff did come over to us to ask if we would like to eat. This area overlooks the car park with a field full of cows beyond that.

Fairly traditional, two level pub owned by Thwaites. Thwaites is not my favourite brewery, but the Wainwright I tried here was in excellent condition, they also had Thwaites Bitter on handpump. I didn't eat here, but the food looked good and is certainly competitively priced compared to the nearby pubs. Plenty of bar stools round the bar and some high tables and stools around the place. An area at the top half of the pub has 4 tables which were set up for dining although people were eating in other areas. It's a bit more foody than it used to be when I came in here regularly a few years ago, but it's still a good pub and is definitely the pick of the Bamford pubs.
