Marston's pub that is situated on a busy mini roundabout. We had to take our lives in our hands to cross the junction to get to it.

The pub was unexpectedly busy with after work drinkers. But all were drinking lager. The pub no longer stocks real ale. Keg options were Kronenbourg, Fosters, Stella Artois, Estrella Damm, Guinness, Revisionist Lager, Strongbow Cloudy Apple & Stowford Press.

The front room was busy with the aforementioned drinkers, whilst a rear room was empty. But the lack of real ale was disappointing. The worst pub we encountered in Wokingham.

Feels like it’s meandering towards closure to me, despite the friendly welcome. Two Marston stable ales on, my Brakspear was utterly flat and listless. Shame.

By all accounts this place has been through a few licensees over the years which is a shame as I am quite fond of it (though its geographic position in relation to the other town centre pubs isn’t helpful for passing trade). The stained glass window 'Henley ales, wine and spirits' is very nice. Brakspear and Marstons Pedigree (£1.75 a half, in good nick) at the bar last night. The comfy modern interior with front and back rooms smelt of cleaning fluid which at least gave it a one-up over the Crispin, though one or two of the banquette covers need replacing. I noted a small collection of board games plus darts to the rear and a patio garden to side. The jukebox and large TV were both off. Mid-range pub grub on offer. The topic of conversation at the bar was the state of the penny chew market. I do have a soft-spot for this one and would recommend a visit if crawling the town. Rated 7

A long-overdue revisit last night. Quite enjoyed it, the beers (Brakspear Ordinary and Wychwood Hobgoblin) were both in good form, served better than most of the other local establishments. The standard of comfort and cleanliness is high and is almost like someone's lounge than a pub - the plush red carpet must be a bugger to keep clean. Mrs Quinno was keen on the place. The landlord made a point of engaging with us, which was good to see. I think this is worth a stop - and it's not far from the station either. Rated 7

Basically laid out pub with a mix of seating through the main drinking area, to the side of this is a small informal dining area, another larger area to the rear for the same purposes, the plush red carpet from Quinnos 2010 visit is no longer so plush. The few customers present were friendly enough. Three handpumps on the bar offered a pedestrian choice of Hobgoblin,Brakespear Bitter and Breakspear Top Notch, the later was perfectly drinkable but I think the name was a little flattering.
Ok here but nothing special.
