Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Anchor Inn

Fine-looking old pub just a short distance south from the Tardy Gate shopping area. However, the partly opened-out L-shaped layout of the bar is slightly more modern than one might expect (but the two side rooms are definitely more traditional). Not very busy, but the banter was entertaining (with my personal favourite being: "If you want to know about Stannah stair lifts and donkey sanctuaries, then I'm your man"). A Good Beer Guide pub, and although only TT Boltmaker and Cumbrian's Loweswater Gold (£3.80) were available when I visited, the quality was good.
