As it's a Witherspoons I don't need to go into too much detail. The decor is reasonably clean and the cheap guest ales and well priced excellent food make it very popular. When it first opened it was frequented by young chavs, but over the years (and helped by the smoking ban) the pensioners have taken over. Not that their age has improved the language! I never heard Uncle Albert say "During the f'ing war". Fortunately, they start early and leave early which makes for improved ambience during the evening.
Not the greatest pub, but pleasant enough and the quality of food and drink should really mean 2.5 stars.
