Steve of N21 left this review about The Hardwick Arms Hotel

The Hardwick Arms is set on the Ermine Way (A1198) in the rural village of Arrington, a few miles north of Royston. It is primarily an 18th century coaching inn which was later part of the Wimpole estate.
It still functions as a hotel, but the bar and restaurant are open to all so it also functions largely as a pub for the village. Inside, it’s a bit of a long thin building and a series of connecting rooms as the building stretches along the side of the road. The central main bar room and the adjoining areas to the right, including the lounge room, the more formal oak-panelled restaurant used as part of the hotel and the snug room with pool table, are all full of period character. Lots of dark woods and beams give a very period feel and a decent collection of beer jugs displayed in the main bar make it feel slightly more like a pub than a hotel bar. The bar supports two real ale handpumps and Doombar and Marstons New World Pale Ale were on for our visit.
We actually visited for Sunday lunch before exploring the nearby Wimpole estate and the main restaurant room to the left of the main bar which houses the Sunday Carvery has a more modern in feel and lacking in character compared to the rest of the building, but was certainly comfortable enough for Sunday lunch. And especially when the decent carvery was £11 or £13 for two courses.
