The Highlander is a nice looking pub that is a short walk from Hitchin's town centre,but i had problems finding it.
Once inside the bar faces in an L shaped room which is bare boarded,there is pew seating and normal tables and chairs for seating.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of XT2,which went down well,the other real ales noted were Oakham MK Ultra,Oakham The Licus and GK IPA.
Food was being served and background music was playing,the pub was very busy on my Saturday afternoon visit.
A decent pub and worth the effort to find it.

A great pub for the middle-class drinker. No tv or games. Recently updated with excellent food. A warm welcome, yet surprisingly it can be very busy or at the opposite extreme very quiet on a Saturday night. Live music features regularly on a Saturday. Popular for birthday parties.
GK IPA is staple but guest beers like Buntingford appear. Beer garden and good parking but who wants to drive to the pub? Highly recommended for a drink outside the town centre drag.
